September 9, 2010, Leadership Network put on the 2010 edition of "The Nines" (Theme: Game Changers). I've started combing through the Program Book*. Let's unpack one of the game changing Nuggets presented that day:
Nugget: GET A RHYTHM
Presenter: BRUCE MILLER
SYNOPSIS:
"Rhythm is so much more dynamic than balance. Balance is just a photograph. Rhythm is a video - and life is moving. You don't pause life to balance it. Two types of rhythm. First is kairos (seasons). Seize opportunities that are unique to kairos times. Remember seasons come to pass. Second is chronos (cycles). Pace yourself with chronos times - oscillate between work and rest."
GOING DEEPER:
Read Ecclesiastes 3 slowly and deliberately. Reflect for a while what God is telling you as you read.
Take a moment to evaluate your lifestyle. Is it ordered according to rhythm? If not, how can it be? What needs to change? What needs to start? What needs to stop?
Take a moment to evaluate your schedule - your use of time. How would that change as you used rhythm as a guiding value? How would your church schedule change?
RESOURCES:
Your Life In Rhythm (book by Bruce Miller)
How To Get Your Life In Rhythm (article by Whitney Hopler)
Spiritual Rhythm: Being with Jesus Every Season of Your Soul (book by Mark Buchanan)

Oh wow, I LOVE this perspective. I may have to check out his book. Thanks Scott.

It is an eye-opener after the concept of "life balance" has taken the stage for so long. If you do get the book, let me know what you think of it.

Scott, thanks for noting my book. I'm getting amazing feedback from people. This week 'm presenting a Your Life in Rhythm seminar in Germany.

You bet, Bruce. I'm glad you're getting that kind of feedback. Stay strong as you present in Germany. I'm eager to connect with you sometime...
