50 days till Christmas
Whaaaa!?!?
So... what's your plan* to avoid burnout THIS year?
*Plan: (noun) A set of intended actions, through which one expects to achieve a goal.
I help leaders conquer burnout.
Does bury my head in the sand until it goes away work? No? Okay...so my plan is...I haven't got one. I am pretty level-headed when it comes to Christmas. I have saved money all year through a Christmas Club and will buy the things I know they want. I never go overboard. Meanwhile, I try to keep myself focused by not getting wrapped up in all the hype; being involved in outside things like Advent Conspiracy and sermon prep that keeps me focused.

Well, there was that movie "Christmas with the Kranks" where they tried to skip Christmas and go on a cruise. Probably not too practical.
You actually do have a plan (at least parts of one). You touch on
FINANCIAL ("...I have saved money all year"),
EMOTIONAL ("...not getting wrapped up in all the hype"),
SPIRITUAL ("...involved in outside things like Advent Conspiracy"), and
VOCATIONAL ("...sermon prep").
Nice plan.

Thanks for giving me some insight into that Scott. Reckon never saw it as a plan. Hmmm have to "plan" more. As for the movie: funny. I also have the book it was based on. I did forget that I do have some traditions I observe. On Thanksgiving Day I watch It's a Wonderful Life and The Santa Clause with any of my family who will watch it with me. I also make sure I watch White Christmas and Santa Clause 2 sometime in there as well.

Well, there you go. You just added a FAMILY dimension to the dimensions above.
It's A Wonderful Life, White Christmas, Elf, and Christmas Vacation are usually part of our traditions.
