it's night time.
nothing you can do about it now.
it's over.
there was good. there was not-so-good.
things to be thankful for. things to still work on.
serving people is messy.
there are ups and there are downs.
"am I doing enough?" "should I have done more?"
questions waft in a faint air of uncertainty.
oh, but there is STILL a precious certainty.
God.
the effectiveness and precision of my doing comes and goes.
but the power of the Being remains because He is the Rock.
the Anchor.
the Constant.
and so there is rest. in God. alone.
and maybe it's not so night anymore.
and tomorrow... we'll try again.

As I read this, it's 6:44 am and the son is rising. There is hope.

someone once said, "we don't rest from our work. we work from our rest."
i like that because it puts a premium on rest.
