Out of it God creates.
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, "Let there be..." (Genesis 1.2)
Out of it God moves.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7.14)
I want God to be creative in my life and work. I want God to move in my circumstances. As the song writer writes, "This is the air I breathe - You're holy Spirit living in me. And I'm desperate for You. I am lost without you."
So, I've found 3 steps to God's creativity and movement. They've worked every time I've tried them. I encourage you to try them yourself:
STEP ONE: Empty yourself of all your pride, understanding, and preconceived ideas of how things should be and just sit. Listen. Obey.
STEP TWO: Empty yourself of all your pride, understanding, and preconceived ideas of how things should be and just sit. Listen. Obey.
STEP THREE: Empty yourself of all your pride, understanding, and preconceived ideas of how things should be and just sit. Listen. Obey.
May God work His divine creativity and movement in your life this week!

Empty - Listen - Obey. It doesn't get much simpler than that. Good post.

Thanks Glynn. It really is quite simple when you think about it. But getting to simple is the difficult thing to do. It requires a peeling away of layers of culturally-imposed self reliance.

Great post Scott, and you're exactly right. I often find no room for God's creativity and movement in my life because I don't give it all over to Him. I am not empty. I am full, full of junk and uselessness. Thanks for such a great reminder. Listen.Obey.

I appreciate your comment, Ryan. The depression I suffered years ago was primarily due to self reliance. I'm making my quest to avoid that and help others do the same.

Such a great and simple reminder... yet not always easy to follow. Thanks for posting. I love that song, btw.

Thanks for checking out the post, Bridget. Yes, easier said than done isn't it?

I love the three steps. Sometimes repetition is key, isn't it?

Tricia - Repetition is good when what's be repeated is healthy. Yes, some of the most profound things about life, I've found, are quite simple.
