Funny thing happened to me the other day. I was in a board meeting for our church. We were meeting at our Pastor's house. They have a 3 month old infant. I asked to hold her while we conducted our business.
The meeting began. We started to discuss budget line items, salaries, strategy, vision.... I looked down at the infant in my arms. She had fallen asleep. A picture of complete peace and rest.
Then I went back to the discussion about income levels, expansion ideas, and ministries. Then looked down again at the little angel in my arms.
Then it hit me! In the midst of all this strategy, planning, and church-board'ing, here was a little child of God who didn't have a care in the world. Her world of peace and our world of planning collided.
There is a place for planning and discerning God's will in matters of business behind the ministry. But I think we all need to be reminded by a 3-month old that in the middle of the planning, we must remain completely dependent and at peace before God.
What about you?
In your ministry planning, do you remain at peace before the God you serve?
