I got gas today. While standing there I noticed this sticker which read, "You must TURN OFF your vehicle BEFORE pumping gas."
I know what you're thinking. I'm thinking it too. It's tempting to simply keep the car running while pumping the gas (especially in the northern states where the wind chill is below freezing). What harm can there be, right?
But this particular gas station won't let you get away with it. I tried. Actually, I forgot and started to pump away. Then I heard this voice over the loud speaker to turn off my engine. Once I realized the voice from on high was for me, I was embarrassed.
Now, we all know the importance of pulling away from the work in order to replenish our energy levels. But how many of us are actually able to deeply relax when we're "off the clock"? There have been days off when I've not stopped thinking about work before. I bet you have too. The problem with that is we don't get the most of the time off.
Better to "turn off your engine" before you "pump gas" back into your emotional reserves. But how do we do this?
Question for you:
How do you turn your engine off and truly rest on your day off?
