Okay. I just did something very worthwhile. It started yesterday when I set an appointment with myself to sit in front of my inbox for 90 minutes to do nothing but go through email messages. Within the first 30 minutes, I cut the total messages down by over 65 percent!
Many of the messages required less than 2 minutes to complete (a quick reply, a forward to someone else who was more qualified to answer the question posed to me, etc.) Some messages took a little longer. But the power in staying productive was knowing I didn't have anything else to interrupt me. I was laser-focused on doing one thing: Blow through my inbox.
I have successfully proven that nipping away little by little at the constant influx of new messages throughout the day doesn'twork. Now, when my inbox reaches a certain number of messages I will set another appointment.
I've also found some very helpful tips from Michael Hyatt on the subject of email management. Here are a few of his articles:
So, How are YOU handling your inbox these days?
