I recently posted the following question on my Facebook status:
"Could it be the reason there is an abundance of burnout in ministry is because there is a scarcity of trust in God?"
Here are the responses I've received so far:
__ Even trusting God for others. (NE)
__ More likely a loss of focus on Jesus by all... (AR)__ My experience with many who have suffered what you may call "burnout" was not a lack of trust in God, but was found to be a lack of watchfulness of those around them, who were to protect and guard their lives. (DP)
__ Burnout comes from having to do it all when those who should be doing it won't and it has to be done. (DA)
__ Maybe we take ourselves too serious. The world was spinning before we were born and it will be spinning when we die. How much do we really give ourselves credit for? I don't think it is how much we get done, but what jewels we find in the process. Remember, the JOY of the Lord is our Strength. If you aren't experiencing JOY, you might not have any strength. (MT)
__ 100% (JC)
__ I think we try to hard to GOD's job. We can't change people. We can only love them. Only God can change them and when we try to do the Holy Spirit's job, which is NOT our job, we get tired and worn out. (CS)
__ Agree with all of the above. We have let God be God. We need to do exactly as He tells us and then...sit back and watch Him do His "thing'. He is so amazing. (SE)
I am interested in what YOU think too. Add your insight. The more we understand where burnout is coming from, the sooner we will be able to eliminate it and Serve Strong!
