[first] So you're traveling along doing your work in the ministry or some other people-helping field. You're doing what you do best. You're loving every minute. You're engaged in where your passion lies. You're doing what you're good at. Life is great.
[second] Then comes along another NEW opportunity. You look into it. You find it ALSO offers the chance to engage in where your passion lies. If you said "yes" to the opportunity, you'd be doing what you're good at. The problem? Life would be less than great.
Why?
Because your bandwidth is finite. This new opportunity you've been shown, while a chance to do what comes natural for you, could be a distraction in disguise. In fact, it could actually make you less than what you could be at BOTH the [first] AND [second]. That's because the [second] reduced the margin you had working in the [first].
Just because you're good at something doesn't mean it's automatically meant for you. When the opportunity arrives, it's time to get on your knees and seek wisdom. Then get off your knees and take inventory of all you're currently doing.
When you say "yes" to one thing you say "no" to something else. You can't be all things to all people. You can't be in multiple places at one time. And sometimes it's what works that distracts.
Develop the habit of dropping to your knees when faced with your next opportunity - then respond accordingly. You'll be Serving Strong!
