I live with my family outside the confines of any one town. In other words, we live amid farm fields. This is a beautiful thing... most of the time. There are, however, seasons in the year when things don't smell so beautiful. The reason: farmers in the area are, what we affectionately term, "haulin' poop." Here's the organic cycle:
The cows come into the barn. They eat. They have their milk extracted. They relieve themselves. The farmer collects the waste in large, underground tanks. The waste is pumped into large trucks. These trucks take the waste to the fields and spread it. Up and down the road they go, leaving a wake of aroma that stiffens the spine.
"Why, why, why," we ask ourselves, "must they share the waste?"
Beneath the question we know the answer: It's the poop that feeds the field. A field covered in poop is a field soon to have nutrients. Don't ask me why or how it works this way, but it does.
Ever complain to God about the "poop" in your life? Ever wish He would just take it all away? Not so fast, cowboy. Poop is what makes for greater patience. Poop builds character. Poop strengthens resolve and resilience. I know what you're thinking:
"#*^&! builds character, give me a break!" (or maybe your still hung up on the fact that I'm even using the word poop !?)
But think about it, really. When was the last time you REALLY grew as a person? When things were going your way? Or when circumstances drove you to your knees?
Learn the art of embracing your poop.... okay, let me say it a better way: Learn the art of appreciating the difficult times. They remind you of your need for God. They help you Serve Strong!
