I did an internet search to find the origin of the phrase, "thick as thieves." Here's what I found:
Dating back to the early 1800's, the term uses the word, "thick" in the sense of "intimate," a usage that is obsolete except in this simile: Intimate, closely allies, as in The men are thick as thieves.
In scripture, we find Jesus telling us in John 15 that our relationship with Him is to be "intimate and organic." In other words, he wants to be thick as thieves with us. Those who are thick as thieves look out for each other; know all about each other; to life together.
Are you thick as thieves with Jesus? Is your relationship with Him intimate and organic? I can tell you, there is no stronger way to serve others. When we are thick with Jesus, we are Serving Strong!
