What do tree roots, building footers, and apple cores have in common? They are the foundation of that particular object. For the tree to exist and survive, it needs a healthy root structure. For the building to stand against the elements, it must have a strong foundation. For the apple to be as nourishing as it can be, it must have a strong core.
Trees, building, apples. They are just metaphors. They are each inconsequential compared to the impact our lives can have on the world. So what is YOUR foundation? How are YOU able to be the best impact in your profession of people helping?
Our foundation (our root system, footer, or core) must be grounded in brokenness before a loving God. When we acknowledge our dependence on Him, harmoniously with the words found in the book of John chapter 5, we are on the right path. All of this foundation talk is found in a relationship with Christ which is intimate and organic. As long as we are depending on our own strength, we weaken the root structure, we crack the foundation, we sever the core of who we were meant to be.
To be the best, we need to start with God (and we're not Him!)
Examine your root structure, your foundation, your core. What do you see? If you find a living, active relationship with Christ based on voluntary brokenness, you are Serving Strong!
