Balance is not a destination; it's a dynamic process. Balance eludes the person who is not intentional about it. Balance is like a fine wristwatch with many intricately woven gears.
One such gear in balance is the SWING. Swing represents a rhythm of back and forth movement from one mode of action to another mode. Here are some examples of Swing:
Waking hours TO sleeping hours
Big picture planning (Covey's Q2 activity) TO Daily task dance floor
Executing work TO stepping back to recreate away from work
Human interaction TO alone time
Balanced people helpers know the value of Swing and they intentionally incorporate it into their life pattern. How's your Swing? Have you spent too much time on one end of the pendulum and not enough at the other? Maybe today's the time to get back to the rhythm of balance. It's part of Serving Strong!
