I went to Arby's for a quick lunch today. I was greeted over the loudspeaker by an energetic, young voice. It gave me a good feeling right off the bat. Then I met the person at the window to pay. She had a smile on her face and looked me straight in the eye. It was simply a nice purchasing transaction.
As I drove off, all I could think was,
"She must be new to the job. She can't possibly be that happy doing what she's doing."
Now, shame on me for even thinking that. What a pessimistic way to look at life! Maybe she's got that extra something inside her which motivates her, regardless of where she is serving. Maybe she's responding to God's unconditional love for her.
I repented and thought about how I view my life. If someone were to have a business or coaching transaction with me, would they have a nice exchange? Do I come across as having a great day? Am I motivated by God's love?
Check your motivation. If God's unconditional love for you is the motivation behind your service to others, you're Serving Strong!
