My friend, James Higginbotham, produces a blog that I follow called Agile Ministry. It's all about Church ministry and non-profit leadership, management, and volunteer recruiting. CLICK HERE for more info on his work.
His post today has to do with being your own customer to see whether your product, service, blog, church ministry, or home is truly what you want it to look like. One suggestion is to subscribe to your own feed to see what others are seeing.
This is great advise. I would take it a step further and suggest we each learn to carry a virtual mirror with us wherever we go - especially into a confrontation situation. If you have to manage conflict (and we all will at one point or another) it helps to know how you're coming across. What is your body language saying? What is your tone of voice really telling the other person? Try to view the situation from the other person's viewpoint. This will honor them and help move the relationship further along through the conflict.
Learn to listen to/view yourself like others hear/see you and you'll be Serving Strong!
