If you're on Facebook at all, you know how easy it is to spend a LOT more time on it than you intended. This leads to putting off project work, increased stress, loss of productivity, and so on. What you're doing is creating an imbalance in your use of time. Facebook time is stealing away the time you have to spend on other activities.
Now, I'm not one to preach against social networking technology like Facebook. But I do think it needs to be a technology that WE run, not the other way around.
I recently read a good article on how to maximize the time you spend on Facebook. The author claims you can handle most of your Facebook tasks in as little as 15 minutes per day. Some of the tips include:
- Update your status.
- Review your news feeds.
- Review news feeds of your friends.
- Review status updates.
- ... and so on.
