Dr. Eddie Gibbs, author of the book "Emerging Churches, Creating Christian Community in Postmodern Cultures", spoke at a seminar I attended recently. During that seminar, Dr. Gibbs shared what a rhythm of life was. It's like a pendulum swing, back and forth, from rest to work, back to rest, then work, and so on.
There are times when we are at work, producing fruitfulness and growth. And there are times when we must rest, abide in Christ, and do some pruning. In fact, it is in the resting and abiding where we find our strength and focus. Dr. Gibbs shared a quote:
"We don't rest from our work. We work from our rest."
Does that describe you today? Or do you spend too much time at one end of the pendulum?
Maintain rhythm and you'll be serving strong!
