What are the signs of operating out of balance? The reason I ask is because a sign showed up for me just today. I was logging onto my laptop and noticed all of the shortcut icons on the desktop. I normally don't like that. I like simplicity. I like a clean, uncluttered desktop.
One of those icons was a shortcut to an electronic version of a book on my hard drive I've been meaning to read. I really like the book and want to absorb the concepts.
"I've been meaning to read that book. I just don't have the time."
Have you ever said that to yourself ("I've been meaning to ____. I just don't have the time")? It's a struggle between what we want to do, what we ought to do, what we think would be of benefit and the other stuff we're doing that is robbing the necessary time.
Another great way to pause and see if you are operating out of balance is whenever you hear yourself saying phrases such as, "I have to...", or "I must...", or "I need to..." One of the characteristics of imbalance is the feeling that someone or something outside of us is controlling us.
Just like driving, stay attuned to the signs along your journey. Don't let imbalance get ahead of you and you will be serving strong.
